Flash in the house and a new cat!
Flash is starting to go into the house! There is a little entryway and a larger space. He went into the entryway. We are due snow tomorrow, so hopefully he will decide it is a warm, safe spot! We also have had a new cat around the past few days. I suspect it is another male, as Flash just watched it for a while.

Flash checks the new house.
After deciding that we couldn't take Flash in the house, we have set up an out-door cat house. I am tempting him to go in by sprinkling some catnip. He is starting to explore!

Problems catching Flash!
We want to catch Flash so that we can neuter him and then bring him indoors for Winter, but this video highlights the problems. 1. He will not go all the way into the trap! 2. We CAN'T do it at night as we are more likely to catch a raccoon or a possum. We will keep trying!

Flash head bump - to say thank you!
Flash is the father of Ollie's kittens. When Ollie first made friends he would never stay around. Now he has become friendly, waiting for breakfast. He is also very polite, and always gives a "head bump" to say "thank you". We will need to get him neutered, and let the hormones depart before we can think of letting him in.

A very busy night!
It was a very busy night! The possum happily mixed in with the raccoons, a coyote came through, and we had a mother and young deer. A young buck scared itself and a rabbit! Finally, a possum had to check out the new camera!

Flash's house.
We got a little cat house for Flash - as the weather is starting to get colder. Three problems with it. 1. It is very flimsy, 2. Only the possum seemed to investigate it, and 3. It is too small for Flash!

Making friends with Flash
Flash (the male orange cat) has been around outside for as long as Ollie (who is now inside) but always ran away! He noticed when Ollie and the kittens were inside, and has now decided that it might like to be a friend as well! He was waiting for breakfast this morning!

Flash up close!
The other orange cat - we call Flash - has always run away from me, but this morning it was waiting by the backdoor for breakfast! This is how it started with Ollie! So, I took some food out and it stayed on the other side of the food bowl!

Tiny possum.
Yesterday, we had a tiny possum still on the mother's back - today we have a tiny possum running around on its own. I think we might have a growing population of possums this year.

Large baby possum on mother's back.
This baby possum is really large to still be on its mother's back! I guess it just doesn't want to make its own way in the world. We have started to have regular visits from the deer!

Black raccoon - quite rare!
Over the past few days I've noticed a black raccoon. It seems they are quite rare, but other than the color they are normal!

Squirrels meet in mid air.
All of our kittens have now gone, 4 went to SICSA last Tuesday. We now have a quiet house, with just Ollie, who seems quite content to be an indoor cat.

Deer, coyote, fox and raccoons.
It's been a while since I posted a video! We have been helping a stray cat (now adopted by us) to raise 5 kittens! I will post a longer video of the kittens at some point. This video has a doe, with a rabbit, a young buck, raccoons deciding that they are NOT afraid of the fox, and a coyote scaring all away!

Five Kittens - not Four!
We thought that we had four kittens, but yesterday evening, Garfield and one of the kittens went back to the deck and brought back a fifth! All five kittens have now moved into an area we have prepared.

Garfield the chipmunk catcher
We have seen a significant reduction in our chipmunk populations and you can see why! Garfield was thinking of bringing it into the house - but we closed the door, so she took it over to her kittens!

Kittens plus Garfield in and out of the kitchen.
t's now week 4 for the kittens. They are growing, but I could only see three! Garfield is now quite at home walking in and out of the kitchen. Demanding a lot of food, but not surprising with the size of the kittens!
