A quiet, cold night.... But....

A quiet cold, night - but this morning with the temperature at Zero - in the sun - the hawks were still hunting!!!

A busy night - did the animals watch the weather forecast????

They were making sure that they got food.  A raccoon and possum shared, it was a three raccoon (dog??) night, and the raccoon and rabbit almost shared.......

The fox arrived after all the good stuff had gone!!!!

The fox arrived late to the party - and nothing was left. It was about 5:00am.  The raccoons had been there earlier and taken all the good stuff.  There was also a rabbit earlier.....

A rabbit (almost) with a raccoon and three deer (mostly) sharing...

It was a busy night.  The fox ran through - but didn't stop - a rabbit and a raccoon almost shared.  The three deer were feeding together, until one decided to move the other two out of the way - by kicking them.  The video shows the deer being moved!!!!

A cold night - but more visitors...

Although it was cold - we had usual visits from the raccoons, but not the possums, The fox ran though, with-out stopping, but the skunk was back for a long visit.  Not seen it in a while.

The Fox and the Rabbit....

The fox and the rabbit were the only two animals to visit last night - they seemed to take it turns, three and four times over night, to visit for something to eat.  I guess it was fortunate for the rabbit that it wasn't there at the same time as the fox!!!!!

Only a fox braved the cold.....

The fox was the only animal out and about last night - way too cold.....  It was very skittish - ran round the food bowls a number of times - but didn't eat.  Not sure why.

The past 24 hours......

We've had some interesting visitors over the past day - so I put together a short video.  The hawk checked out the food bowl in the morning, then the fox stopped by, and finally the possum didn't want to share with the raccoons - and made that clear - although in the end, they all shared.

A quiet night - but the fox paid a visit

When it is cold the raccoons go dormant - not hibernating - but sleeping deeply.  There was a visit from a possum, and the fox stopped by a couple of times.

A Daily Hawk fix.....

The pair of hawks have been in the backyard a lot today.

An afternoon with hawks in the backyard

We had a visit from the two hawks that live in the area this afternoon. The male was on the ground, the female in the tree and a shot of both of them on branches.

Slightly different today....

This starts with a brief story.

At the start of November our car had to have a faulty sensor replaced.

On Sunday another sensor died!!!

When the shop told us about the second sensor, I ask what could be causing both to die.  

A little while they called with the answer : RODENTS.

The wires had been chewed through.  

We take care of the outside animals - and this is what they do :-).  Also we have two cats, who didn't guard the car..........

After the photos of the wires, there is a photo of the hawk in the backyard this morning.

A quiet night - before the snow....

Last night was quiet, a brave possum, two very fat raccoons, and then the rabbit - not seen for a while - just as the snow started....

City BBQ night for the wild life......

When-ever we go to City BBQ, they give us some scraps for the animals - plus the Texas Toast, that we don't eat.

The animals enjoy City BBQ as much as us.  The possums take the Texas Toast, the raccoon eats it in place, and the fox runs off with the pork shoulder bone.  Maybe they shouldn't use this as a ad campaign....

A quiet night...

Last night was fairly quiet outside - but we did get visits from possums and raccoons, and one time they shared.

I've had a few people ask how I get the video/photos over-night - and no, I don't sit there all night long......  I'm putting together a web page description - and will send out a link soon for those who want  to know.......

A very busy night.....

The warmer night meant that it was busy.

The raccoons and possums shared, the deer had the food all to itself, but the fox chased off the raccoons - they climbed different trees - but then it didn't stay.

Possum playing "possum" while the deer walks past.

The possum played "possum" until the deer moved away - then it ran away - as only a possum can run.......  Then the deer came back to feed.  (All happened about 7:30pm last night.)
