Move activity - as it got a little warmer....

Before Midnight the possums had the food all to themselves -especially the Bullwinkle's rib bones (thanks Steve), but as it got a little warmer over night the raccoons turn up and the possum had to share.......

It's not usual to see the raccoons and possums sharing.

Last Night Visitors - and some info on how these are shots are taken.

Last night we had a deer at about 7:30pm and a fox at about 10:00pm.
After the photos there is a brief description of how I get these pictures - there have been some new additions to the mailing list and even for some who have been getting them for a while, it might be interesting to know how it is done.

How it is done - in brief.

Firstly, it is totally dark out there - the light is from InfraRed lamps that allow my infrared cameras to work.  The animals see nothing!  One infrared camera in on a raspberry Pi ( single board computer) that is doing motion detection.  When something happens it turns on a high-def video camera that records in infrared.  Also the Pi takes a photo every 5 seconds while there is movement.  I review these pictures then next morning to see what happened and then get the hi-def video clips from the camera.  The YouTube video are clips from the camera, and then the still shots are taken from the video.   SIMPLE........
