I sometimes forget about the animals we see all day. Squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks. Also, we have pizza and corn-cob lovers!

Get in early if you want food
All the animals now know to get in early if you want the food. The possum was there and ran off when the raccoon cubs came in. The normal crowd was there later, and the lone raccoon was too late and had to search under the bowl!

The raccoon cubs are almost fully grown. The large possum shared with a raccoon family and with a smaller possum.

Early and late to the food bowls
The raccoon family was out early to get the food - cubs getting really big! The single raccoon came through when all the food was gone - so turning over the bowls to check underneath.

Raccoon party and a lone fox.
The raccoons had their party time. We haven't seen a fox for a while - but it visited last night. I'm surprised we've not seen more of the foxes as we have lots of squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits running around at the moment!

All I said was hello
These two raccoons were eating in the evening when I walked down the side path and said "Hello". They looked, and ran! They were soon back. The deer that seems to live around here paid a morning visit.

Melon not a hit.
Bananas - great. Watermelon - great. Melon - not so much! The melon stayed around for a long time overnight. A raccoon took some, then a possum finished it off - a few hours later. Raccoon and deer happily sharing.

Night before last - bananas. Last night - watermelon! The raccoon ran off with a few pieces, before deciding to eat it where it was! Also, we had a larger crowd of raccoons overnight! Getting busy!

Raccoons go bananas!
The raccoons have realized that to get the food they need to be there early - so four at the seed in the evening. We had two bananas past their best - so we put the out - and the raccoons ran off with them - one at a time!

Raccoon cub discipline
Raccoons have to learn to run when raccoons around them run - even if they don't see the danger themselves! (A while back we saw a raccoon cub taken by a coyote because it didn't do this!) Last night the mamma raccoon gave the cub that didn't run with the others a nip on the ear when she came back in - trying to teach the cub.

Seed quickly gone!
The seed trays are getting emptied very quickly - as the deer is eating early. It took 90 minutes to pretty much eat all the seed - only the early raccoons get a look in - and then one needed to sit in the bowl to keep control! I will have to refill just before sunset!

Crazy at food central!
Things are getting crazy at the food bowls. In the evening, a deer eats a lot, then three raccoons feast. The deer want to come back at the same time, but seems fascinated by one of the raccoons! Overnight a raccoon steals a food bowl - not sure if it thinks it will magically refill. Finally, the deer make a morning visit to see if more food has been put out.

"Scared raccoon", "brave raccoon" and rabbits
Two raccoons come out in the evening. "Brave Raccoon" who gets very close to me, and "Scared Raccoon" who runs away as soon as I open the door. Here we have "scared raccoon" with a deer - running away - and then "brave raccoon" who barely looks up! We are also getting more and more rabbits!
